Generalist Species
Organisms with a broad niche that can use a variety of resources and live in many different environments.
Specialist Species
Organisms with a narrow niche that depend on specific resources or habitats.
K-Selected Species
Species that produce few offspring, have high parental care, and thrive in stable environments.
r-Selected Species
Species that produce many offspring, provide little to no parental care, and thrive in disturbed environments.
Survivorship Curve Type I
Type curve represents species with high parental investment, where most survive to adulthood and mortality increases at old age.
Survivorship Curve Type II
Type curve represents species with a constant mortality risk throughout life.
Survivorship Curve Type III
Type curve represents species with a very high death rate early in life, where few survive to adulthood.

Non-native organisms that spread rapidly, causing harm to ecosystems, biodiversity, and economies.
Keystone Species
A species that has a disproportionately large impact on its environment relative to its abundance.

Raccoons, cockroaches, rats, deer, and humans.

Pandas, koalas, and spotted owls.
