Credentialing is determined by

State

Immediate supervision

A veterinarian is within direct eyesight & hearing range

Direct supervision

A veterinarian is on the premises and available

Indirect supervision

A veterinarian is not on the premises but is able to perform their duties via direct communication (ex: phone call, text)

VCPR

Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship

VCPR Criteria:

1. Vet has assumed responsibility for making clinical judgements of the health and need for medical treatment of the animal(s), and the client has agreed to follow vet’s instructions

2. Vet has sufficient knowledge of the animal(s) to make a general or preliminary diagnosis of the medical condition of the animal(s)

3. The vet is readily available for follow up evaluation or has arranged for emergency coverage in the event of adverse reactions/failure of treatment regimen
