It’s called Diagnostic because it’s diagnosing Ss current knowledge of the TL.

Must be done BEFORE the teaching stage.

KEEP THIS STAGE FAIRLY SHORT.
Just long enough for you to get a picture of what you need to teach.

From the Word Bank at the back of the text book, choose which exercise (and the accompanying TL) you will set for Ss.

3a, 3b - Adjectives to describe the weather

Reassure Ss that it’s ok if they don’t know a word,
because we are going to be learning them afterwards.
