accidental marks

Marks that arise from wear or random interaction, such as on shoe soles.

dental stone

A plaster-like material that when mixed has a consistency like pancake batter and that hardens to a mold. It is used to cast impressions such as shoeprints in mud.

dry origin impression

Impressions such as from footwear in which the impression is made in a dry material such as dust.

stance

The track width between two tires, such as between the two front tires.

three-dimensional impressions

Impressions (footwear, tires, etc.) that have depth, such as a tire track in mud.

tire tracks

The distance between two or more tires on a car or truck; usually refers to the width.

turning diameter

The diameter of a circle that a car will make when the steering wheel is fully turned.

wheelbase

Distance between the front and rear tires on a vehicle measured center to center.
