Triple Alliance
A military alliance between Austria-Hungary, Germany, and Italy prior to and during World War I.
Triple Entente
An alliance between Britain, France, and Russia that formed as a counterweight to the Triple Alliance.
Black Hand
A Serbian terrorist group formed in 1911 with the aim of assassinating a member of the ruling Austria family to unite Serbians.
Archduke Franz Ferdinand
Whose assassination on June 28, 1914, triggered the 'July Crisis' and the beginning of World War I.
July Crisis
A diplomatic crisis among the major powers of Europe in the summer of 1914 that led to World War I.
Schlieffen Plan
Germany's military plan to invade France through Belgium, triggering Britain's declaration of war.
British Raj
The period of direct British rule over India, from 1858 onwards.
East India Company (EIC)
The company which increased its control of India beginning in 1757 and paved the way for the British Raj.
Anglo-Maratha Wars
Series of wars between 1775 and 1819 between the Maratha Empire and the East India Company, resulting in EIC victory.
Kandyan Wars
Conflicts during 1796 - 1818 leading to British control of Sri Lanka.
Treaty of Versailles
The peace treaty that Germany was angry about losing after WWI.
Fuhrer
A belief in a single leader in Nazism.
Nazism
A political ideology associated with the Nazi Party in Germany, characterized by extreme nationalism, racism, and totalitarian control.
Lebensraum
The Nazi's believed that they must expand to Easter Europe (Poland and Ukraine).
Aryan Race
The Nazi's believed that they were superior and would conquer those who are inferior.

An important event in the Indian independence movement in 1930.
First Non-Cooperation Movement
An important event in the Indian independence movement, between 1920-22.

Important event in 1857 that occurred in the road to Indian independence.
Militarism

Imperialism
A policy of extending a country’s power and influence through colonisation.

A demand that if rejected will bring about an end of talks and could lead to forceful action
