Hypoxia
reduced oxygen, like in high altitudes
Anoxia
absence of an oxygen supply, like when drowning or in a heart attack
Internal Carotid System
delivers blood to frontal and temporal lobes, going through internal carotid arteries to the forebrain (front part of the brain)
Vertebrobasilar System
supplies blood to the back of the brain, blood goes to the brainstem, cerebellum, and occipital lobes, basilar arty branches into posterior cerebral arteries, can cause vision and hearing problems and agnosias
Circle of Willis
loop of blood vessels, connects anterior and posterior cerebral arteries, helps prevent strokes
Anterior Cerebral Artery
send blood to anterior and medial parts of the brain
Middle Cerebral Artery
send blood to the entire lateral surface of the brain, part of the Circle of Willis, most affected blood vessel in the brain when something happens
