base
horseshoe-shaped structure which supports the whole weigh of the microscope

this arises from the base and forms a short column that joins a curve structure, the arm.

the part used in holding the microscope
tube
hollow cylinder bearing the two separate lens system, the objective at thw lower end and the eyepiece at the upper hand
inclination joint
the point where the pillar is joined to the arm. this permit tilting the instrument at any designed angle.
revolving nose piece
this is attached ti the lower end of the tube, to which the low and high-power objectives are attached.
dust shield
above the revolving nosepiece; it protects the objectives from dust
stage
a small square piece where the slide to be examminated is placed
stage aperture
a central opening of the stage where the light
stage clips
these are on the stage to hold a slide security in posistion
diaphragm
this serves to regulate the amount of light admitted to the specimen
