Electronegativity difference (ΔEN)
The difference in the electronegativities of two bonded atoms or ions.
Nonpolar Covalent
A type of bond where the electronegativity difference (ΔEN) is between 0 and 0.4.
Polar Covalent
A type of bond where the electronegativity difference (ΔEN) is between 0.5 and 1.7.
Ionic
A type of bond where the electronegativity difference (ΔEN) is greater than 1.7.
