Ahimsa in Thought
IF you out out negative energy of bad vibes towards someone, it could damage them. You could also gain bad karma thinking violent thoughts towards someone.
Protection from negative thoughts
practising meditation/mind yoga, keeping your mind positive/occupied, dispelling negative emotions quickly through wisdom, discussing things that bother them with family/friends.
Ahimsa against Oneself
worrying, negative thinking, overworking, violating your own development, suicide, abuse of intoxicants, emotional self-harm, physical self-harm.
Suffering
Suffering comes from the ego. So the bigger the ego, the greater the suffering.
Why do humans feel bigger suffering?
We feel bigger suffering because our ego is highly evolved so we are more aware of our own existence. We refer pain to ‘our body’.
Pain
Is relative. Certain situations could be very painful for some people who are self-centred and less painful for those opposite in nature.
How to practise ahimsa
By being understanding, compassionate, forgiving and merciful.
Dealing with Verbal attacks
Don’t react and try to understand what is happening.
When is Violence Acceptable?
When defending yourself, or the vulnerable.
Principle of Ahimsa
To try and rise above any violence, to protect your soul.
Why were martial arts created?
So you could use your body and sticks to defend and deflect without causing excessive harm.
Examples of stealing
property, physical objects, money, credit, ideas, intellectual property, land, honour, confidence, joy, hope, peace of mind, family.
Why do we need to steal?
It comes from a feeling of inadequacy and people who steal are unhappy and envious. They do this to feel better and more powerful.
Is it ever right to steal?
It comes down to their motivation and intention, whether it is justifiable or out of laziness or greed.
How to practise asteya
By being giving, nurturing, nourishing and loving. Work on being charitable. Eg. Giving someone confidence, love or time.
Non-coveting
Coveting is dark and specific, aimed at brooding, yearning, craving, and obsessing.
What can coveting lead you towards?
It can lead you towards attaining things by any means necessary, moral, fair, legal or not. It can leave you restless, unhappy and envious.
