Washington wanted to assimilate Native Americans into American society, Congress makes treaties with several tribes, Northern tribes in the Great Lake region & surrounding used force to prevent settlers from invading
Jay’s Treaty of 1794
England saw trading as a threat & started impressment. Britain was aiding & encouraging the Natives to attack the US settlers. Washington sends John Jay to negotiate:

No compensation for merchants
Britain must leave forts
US most favored their trade status with Britian
Many Americans felt as though Washington was betraying them by the unfair/unequal terms of the treaty
Treaty of Greenville of 1795
ends the alliance between the Natives & the British, after the Battle of Fallen Timbers, Natives get annual payment for the land & Americans get to settle in said land
What clause did Hamilton use to justify his bond plan?
Article 1, Section 8, Clause 18 - “Necessary & proper Clause”
Whiskey Tax/Rebellion of 1791-94
the government passed a direct tax on whiskey that was made/sold in the US. Making liquor was cheap, so many farmers relied on it & were very upset as smaller cooperations were more impacted by the tax than larger ones. This prompted a rebellion in western Pennsylvania when angry farmers attacked tax collectors because they didn’t want to pay the Whiskey Tax. Washington sent the military to suppress the revellion.

Pinckney’s Treaty
made with Spain after Spain was concerned about the US’s treaty with Britian & feared their territory was endangered. Spain gave up land & gave the US access to New Orleans & unrestricted, non-taxed usage of the Missisipi River.
