When did angiosperms first appear?
150 million years ago. (They are the dominant plants on earth today.)
What are their main reproductive organs?
Flowers.
What are they known for?
Their broad leaves.
How do they transport the pollen to the eggs?
They need help from insects and animals , this is called pollination.
What is pollination?
Pollination is the act of transferring pollen grains from the mall anther of a flower to the female stigma.
are flowers monoecious or dioecious?
They are monoecious and can self pollinate. (I.e. Alder , beech, walnut teees, and petunias, wheat and corn.)
What is a perfect flower?
A perfect flower are monoecious , but flowers that are not perfect are dioecious. They have male and female flowers on separate plants, some just produce pollen and other that just produce eggs.
What are examples of dioecious plants?
Poplar, willow, ash, mulberry, holly, juniper, pistachio, and red maple.
What is the pumpkin?
The pumpkin is monoecious. It has both male and female flowers on the same plant but their actual flowers are dioecious. There’s a male flower and a female flower that grow in different places on the plant.
What do male flowers have in the center?
A stamen
What do female flowers have at the center?
A pistil.
