Lateral epicondylitis

Chronic degen of ECRB at the proximal attachment point; from repetitive wrist extension

Positive Cozen’s, Mill’s, and Maudsley

Medial Epicondylitis

Degen of PT and FCR at the Prox attachements

Overuse from sports, gripping, and excessive pronation

ST: Medial Epicondylitis test (golfer’s elbow test)

Supracondylar Fx

Distal humeral Fx, common in kids. AIO Nerve and brachial artery involvement

Complications: Vilkmann’s ischemic contracture, gun stock deformity (reduced carrying angle)

Requires ORIF

Pulled Elbow syndrome / nursemaid’s

Ages 2-3 years, traction on extended elbow causing slippage

Resting position, arm at side with pronation

Radial nerve may get injured

AIO Nerve syndrome

Weakness of FPL and FDP to index finger, weakness of PQ

Distal biceps tendon rupture

Swelling, ecchymosis, palpable gap in biceps tendon, weak elbow flexion and supination

Myositis ossificans

Common in brachialis muscle after trauma or aggressive stretching

Avoid stretching, massage, resistance, and heat

Brachialis strain

Pain o n anterior distal part of arm, tender, painful resisted elbow flexion with pronation
