the different grades of cables that determine how much protection is offered against interference from outside the cable

Coaxial Cable
uses a central copper conductor to transmit high-frequency electrical signals, protected by layers of insulation and a braided metal shield to minimize interference. 10Base2 Ethernet networks use this. has largely been replaced by twisted pair cable for internal LANs but is still used for broadband internet, cable television, and other applications

Crosstalk
a type of interference that occurs when two LAN cables run close to each other. the one carrying a signal will induce a ghost signal (Crosstalk) in the other cable.

Fiber-optic
uses strands of glass or plastic fibers to transmit data as pulses of light, offering high speed and bandwidth for internet, voice, and video services. These networks consist of cables with a core where light travels, a surrounding cladding layer, and protective outer layers. They are used for everything from long-haul global communications to residential and commercial internet connections, providing low latency and reliable connectivity.
