Yellowish fluid for sperm motility (sugars, coagulation)

Mix with sperm in duct

what does the prostate do

Secretions into urethra

Prostate Cancer (very common)

what does the bulbo-urethral gland do

Mucus that lubricates and neutralizes traces of urine

what is semen

mixture of sperm, Testicular fluid and Accessory gland secretions. it transport medium & nutrients for sperm like ATP. Defensins, bicarbonate and coagulation factors.

what is spermatogenesis

is sperm production in the testes. about 400 million sperm are produce a day.

how is meiosis use in the process of sperm production

Stem cells produce primary spermatocyte

meiosis happens and the cell divide into spermatids

Spermatids are nonmotile

why are sperm haploid?

The is because the egg is an haploid too, so when the sperm fertilize the egg. it from a diploid

why do sperm need the nose cone

it has Hydrolytic enzymes that is able to break the eggs lining

Testosterone affects fertility by

Promoting spermatogenesis, reproductive organ growth/function and secondary sex characteristics (like hair and deep vocie)

what are Leydig cells?

they are separate from seminiferous tubles. they produce testosterone

what are the ovaries?

Produce eggs and sex hormones.

what are the two parts of the ovaries

cortex and medulla

what does the cortex and medulla of the ovaries have?

the cortex has Follicles contain immature eggs

the medulla has vessels and nerves

what are the uterine tubes

Receive ovulated egg (Ciliated fingers sweep ovary) and Fertilization occurs

what is a cervix

the outlet of the uterus

what is an ectopic pregnancy

Uterine tube is NOT continuous with ovary

where is the uterus and what does it do?

it is in pelvis behind bladder and it is a hallow muscular organ. it nourishes fertilized ovum

what are some risk factors of getting cervical cancer?

inflammation, STDs, multiple pregnancies

what can be used to get if you have cervical cancer

Papanicolaou smear (Pap smear)

what is Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and what can it cause

it is an STD and Cause of most cervical cancers
