Behaviorism
The study of psychology focusing on observable behaviors and the ways they are learned.
Locus of Control
A cognitive framework that refers to the extent to which individuals believe they can control events affecting them.
Habituation
A decrease in responsiveness to a stimulus after repeated exposures.
Implicit Motives
Motives that are not explicitly stated but can be assessed through projective measures.

Self-Determination Theory
A theory of motivation that emphasizes the importance of autonomy, competence, and relatedness in fostering intrinsic motivation.
Reciprocal Determinism
The theory that a person's behavior is influenced by personal factors and the environment, and vice versa.
Extrinsic Motivation
Engaging in behavior for a separable outcome or reward.
Intrinsic Motivation
Engaging in behavior for the sake of the activity itself, where the activity is its own reward.
Approach Motivation
The anticipation of rewards for success leading to positive engagement.
Avoidance Motivation
The concern about negative consequences of failure which may hinder performance.
Reciprocal determinism
When a person's behavior causes the environment
