The patient must:
be a patient of record who has had current debridement procedures.
return following the debridement procedures within a two-week period for tissue evaluation.
***Therapies other than LDAs should be considered when:
Multiple sites with PD 75mm exist in the same quadrant.
• The use of LDAs has failed to control periodontitis (e.g., reduction of PD).
• Anatomical defects are present (e.g., intrabony defects).
At the two week tissue evaluation appointment the patient will be a candidate for Arestin if they meet the following criteria:
the site must exhibit continued bleeding upon probing
the site must have a probing depth over 5 mm
an instructor must confirm the student's evaluation of the non responsive site(s).
the patient must agree to return to the clinic in approximately four weeks to have the areas where Arestin was applied evaluated. The patient must sign a statement of this agreement on the treatment record prior to the Arestin placement.
After Arestin, Patient must return ________ to check tissue response.
