Left Liver

  • Do a a Longitudinal Survey: IVC → when the Left Liver ends

  • 1) Long Shot: This demonstrates Liver Parenchyma

  • Do a Transverse Survey: Diaphragms → when it Ends

  • 2) Trans Shot: Find LEFT Portal Vein + Centre + Elongate

New cards

Right Liver

  • Long Survey: From all the way lateral → IVC/Aorta

  • 1) Long Shot: Include Right Kidney

  • 2) Long Shot: Same w/ Measurement from just outside diaphragm → end of Liver (13-15cm)

  • 3) Long Shot: Sweep Medially (before IVC) → For Liver Parenchyma

  • Trans survey: Diaphragm → End of Liver

  • 4) Trans Shot: Find RIGHT Portal Vein (Hyperechoic Outline)

Spleen

  • For Long Survey: Angle Tube so that it is pointed to head + angled to rib → Look in between each rib from side to side

  • 1) Long Shot: Include Spleen

  • 2) Long Shot: Measurement (10-12cm = normal | 13 = borderline)

  • Trans Survey: Angle 90 degrees from Long + Diaphragm → end of Spleen

  • 3) Trans Shot: Spleen

Aorta

  • Trans Survey: Start understernum + angle up, Diaphragm → Bifurcation of Rt. + Lt. Iliac Arterys

  • 1) Trans Shot: Above/Below level of SMA

  • 2) Trans Shot: Above Bifurcation w/ Measurement (<3cm)

  • Long Survey: Diaphragm → Bifurcation

  • 3) Long Shot: Above/Below level of SMA

Carotid Measurement

Peak Systolic Velocity (PSV) of CCA should be LESS THAN 100cm/sec
