The Governance System of UAE

The governance system of the UAE is a federal absolute monarchy.

The system is composed of both federal and emirate-level structures, with each of the seven emirates having a certain degree of autonomy.

Each Emirates retain their matters:

1. Economic policy.

2. Natural resources (notably oil and gas).

3. Infrastructure.

4. Local security forces.

Monarchy

Each of the seven emirates is ruled by its own hereditary monarch (Sheikh).

The position of rules is typically passed down within a family.

Five Federation Authorities prescribed in the constitution.

1. Federal Supreme Council.

2. Federal president and federal vice president.

3. Federal cabinet.

4. Federal National Council (FNC)

5. Federal Judiciary.

Federal Supreme Council.

Is the highest constitutional authority in the UAE.

It consists of the Rulers of all emirates.

Each emirate has a single vote in the deliberation of the council.

Federal Supreme Council. Responsibilities :

1. Formulate the general policy

2. Accepting the federal laws.

3. Approval of decrees on matters that fall under the Constitution's provisions.

4. The acceptance of international agreements and treaties.

5. Approving the appointment of the Prime Minister.

6. Approving the appointment of the President and

the judges of the Supreme Court.

Federal President and Vice President.

The president and Vice President elects for 5 years.

Federal President and Vice President Responsibility:

1. Head the Supreme Council.

2. Call the meeting.

3. Call for a joint meeting of the supreme council and federal cabinet.

4. Sign and issues federal laws and decrees.

5. Appoint Prime minister.

6. Appoint Ministers.

7. Appoint a Diplomatic representative.

8. Represent the country in all international meetings.

Federal Cabinet:

is the executive branch of the Federation

Last one was formed on 25 of Sep 2021.

Federal National Council:

FNC is the consultative council, the lawmakers of UAE. It has 40 members.

Responsibility of the FNC

1.Passing, amending or ejecting federal draft laws.

2. Examining the annual budget draft.

3. Discussing international treaties & agreements

Federal Judiciary :

It includes:

1.Federal Supreme Court.

2. Federal courts.

3. Public Prosecution.
