What was the Monroe Doctrine?
The US policy stating that North and South AMerica were off limits to colonizations AND any attempt to do so would be deemed a hostile attack against the US.

Europe was furious, but did not act on this due to England eventually agreeing with America (Europe still in fear of England).

What happened to spark the Missouri compromise?
Missouri applies to the Union as a slave state.
What happened to Missouri’s request in the House of Representatives?
It was passed, but only if no more slaves were imported into the state and is children of slaves over 25 were set free.
What happened to Missouri’s request in the Senate?
It was decides that in an act called the Missouri Compromise, Missouri would join as a slave state while Maine would join as a free state. Slavery was also prohibited in the remaining territories north of the 36°30' parallel (north of Missouri’s southern border")
