Rate of reaction
How much product is formed, or how much substrate is used up in a given time. A faster reaction produces more change per second
Control factor
A factor you deliberately keep constant throughout an investigation so it cannot affect your results
Buffer solution
A solution able to resist changes in pH when small amounts of acid or alkali are added
Serial dilutions
Take some of the stock, dilute it to create a weaker solution, and then dilute a portion of that to make one weaker still
Plateau
A curve that flattens into a horizontal line on a graph, meaning no more product is made
Initial rate of reaction
The rate right at the start of the reaction, close to t=0
