Current Zoom Level Location

The current zoom percentage can be seen in the document tab at the top of the interface or in the lower left of the document window.

Scrubby Slider

A navigation feature activated by hovering over the lower left zoom value and holding $Ctrl$ (Win) or $Command$ (Mac); dragging right zooms in, and dragging left zooms out.

Shift Key Zoom Modifier

When used with the Scrubby Slider ($Shift+Ctrl$ or $Shift+Command$), this key allows zooming in or out in larger $10\%$ increments.

Zoom In Keyboard Shortcut

Press and hold the $Ctrl$ key, or $Command$ on a Mac, and then press the plus sign ($+$).

Zoom Out Keyboard Shortcut

Press and hold the $Ctrl$ key, or $Command$ on a Mac, and then press the minus sign ($-$).

Zoom Level Presets

The specific values ($25\%$, $33.3\%$, $50\%$, $66.7\%$, and $100\%$) that Photoshop uses to provide the most accurate view of image pixels.

Fit on Screen Command

A viewing option found in the View menu (shortcut $Ctrl+0$ or $Command+0$) that adjusts the zoom level to show the entire image at once.

100% View Shortcut

A command that jumps to the full pixel size of the image, accessed via the View menu or by pressing $Ctrl+1$ (Win) or $Command+1$ (Mac).

Zoom Tool

A tool found in the toolbar (shortcut $Z$) that changes the cursor to a magnifying glass with a plus sign for clicking to zoom into specific areas.

Maximum Zoom Level

The highest level Photoshop allows users to zoom into an image, which is $12800\%$.

Pixel Grid

An outline that appears around individual pixels when zooming significantly beyond $100\%$, intended for reference only and not visible when printing.

Continuous Zoom

A feature where clicking and holding the mouse button with the Zoom Tool active causes Photoshop to zoom in steadily until the button is released.

Scrubby Zoom

A Zoom Tool option in the Options Bar that allows zooming by clicking and dragging immediately to the right to zoom in or to the left to zoom out.

Hand Tool

A tool located directly above the Zoom Tool in the toolbar (shortcut $H$) used to click and drag an image around the workspace when zoomed in.

Flick Panning

An action where the user releases the mouse button while dragging an image, causing it to continue moving in that direction until it gradually stops.

Temporarily Access Hand Tool

Pressing and holding the spacebar allows the user to switch to the Hand Tool from any other active tool.

Bird's Eye View

A navigation method activated by holding the $H$ key and clicking and holding the image; it zooms the image out to fit the screen, allowing the user to reposition a selection rectangle before zooming back in.

Double-click Hand Tool Shortcut

A toolbar shortcut that quickly activates the Fit on Screen view.

Double-click Zoom Tool Shortcut

A toolbar shortcut that quickly jumps the document view to $100\% .$
