feeding in clams
the incurrent siphon draws in water from the environment which contains food particles. As water enters, it passes over the gills that filter the food and oxygen. Once filtered from the gills, they are transported to the labial palps and this decides weather to ingest or reject the food. Lastly, the excurrent siphon gets rid of the filtered water and waste back into the ocean.
