what is the problem with Bohr’s model
it only works for hydrogen
what was the problem with rutheford’s model
it didnt explain atomic absorption and emission spectra & it was not sustainable
bohr model
electrons are moving in orbits, and those orbits have definite energies, and the energies of electrons in atoms are quantized
on energy diagrams what transition of energy would produce an absorption spectrum
lower energy to higher energy (absorbing energy)
what types of colors do higher energy match
darker colors=higher energy levels
how are absorption and emission different from the photoelectric effect
photo electric effect:atom absorbs a proton resulting in ejection of an electron & the electron completely leaves the atom
ionization
what should the atom model include
electrons in atom can only have certain energies since they are quantized, we can’t know the exact position of the electron since we know its energy
