Small Dog breed - Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Daschund Toy Poodle, etc

  • Can occur in large breeds but predominantly smallies

Mitral valve most common
Tricuspid in 30% of cases
Little leaks of aortic and pulmonic valves is seen too

Systolic murmur
Dyspnoea and cyanosis in severe cases
Coughing - controversial if involved or not

Sometimes b4 you see obvs congestion you see these enlarged pulmonary veins preceding oedema development

Consequences of MVI

Volume ovetload → LV stretches and enlarged LA → LV enlarge → Pulomary BV become distended → cardiogenic oedema
