What does the digestive system consist of (organs)?

1. gastrointestinal (GI) tract or alimentary canal

2. accessory organs

What does the alimentary canal/GI tract include?

mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine

What do the accessory organs include?

tongue, teeth, salivary glands, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas

What is known as a “fat apron” covering small and large intestines located in the GI tract?

greater omentum

What is a fold membrane that attaches the intestine to the abdominal wall and holds it in place located in the GI?

mesentery
