what causes an ice age? (3)
earth constantly changing because of plate tectonics this changes in global temperature, the earths tolt is always changing, less co2 the atmosphere cannot trap the suns heat.
Whats processes of glacial erosion (2)
plucking, abrasion.
explain plucking
friction beteween the glacier and the ground beneath it that causes bottom of glacier to melt, this creates water and makes its way into cracks and freezes, when the glacier moves, it plucks those rocks from the ground and gets carried away.
explain abrasion
Rocks attached to the glacier scrape the rock underneath, this leaves scratch marks behind called striations, they tell us the direction in which the glacier moved
landforms of glacial erosion (6)
cirques,drumlin,boulder clay,erratics,moraines,eskers.
explain cirques
Snow accumulates in a hollow high up, compressed to form ice. The ice plucks rocks from the side of the mountain, causing abrasion, making the hollow deeper. The ice eventually overflows and continues down the mountain. The ice left over melts and forms a lake, e.g., Coumshingach Co. Waterford..
benefits of glatiation
agriculture, tourism, roads
Negatives of glaciation
Poor agriculture and flooding.
