Aorta
The large artery that carries blood from the heart to the body.
Inferior Vena Cava (IVC)
The large vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the lower body back to the heart.
Sonographic Appearance
The visual characteristics of an organ or vessel as seen during an ultrasound examination.
Anechoic
A term describing a structure that appears dark or echo-free on ultrasound, indicating fluid or non-solid material.
Transducer
The device used in ultrasound to send and receive sound waves.
Sagittal Plane
An anatomical plane that divides the body into right and left parts.
Scanning Protocol

Celiac Axis

Pulsatile
Refers to blood flow that is characterized by rhythmic expansion and contraction, typically in veins and arteries.
Patient Preparation
Steps taken to prepare a patient for an ultrasound, including dietary restrictions and positioning.
