Large open-cut thermal coal mine; about 12.6 million tonnes saleable product.

3. Hail Creek Open Cut

Large coal mine producing metallurgical and thermal coal; about 7.9 million tonnes saleable product.

4.Mount Isa Mines opencut

A major Glencore mining and processing centre that produces and processes metals such as zinc, lead, silver and copper. It has been one of Australia’s most important mining centres for many decades. Its underground copper mining closed in 2025, but Glencore’s zinc/lead operations and smelters continue.
