What is language?

What is morphology?
Morphology is the study of the internal structure of words and how words are formed from morphemes.

A morpheme that can stand independently as a word.

A morpheme that cannot stand independently and must attach to another morpheme.

Affixation
Affixation is the process of attaching an affix to a base/stem to create a new word or grammatical form. Affix is a small group of letters added to the root or base of a word to change its meaning or grammar. PREFIX OR SUFFIX
Inflectional morpheme
Changes the grammatical form/function of a word but doesn't create a new lexeme.
derivational morpheme
A derivational morpheme creates a new word/lexeme or can change its word class.
Arbitrariness
There is no natural connection between a linguistic form and its meaning.
