Objective socialization

-society acts on the child

Subjective socialization

-inherited
-society transmits its culture from one generation to the next and adapts the individual to the accepted and approved ways of life

Exchange

- give and take

Cooperation

- working together to achieve a common goals
- w/o this social life would be unmanageable

Conflict

- when people disobey rules. control a person by force. or hurt other people to achieve their goals
- can strengthen the unity w/in a group

Coercion

- peole use threats or force to persuade another person

Competition

- indiv or grps confine their conflict within agreed upon rules

Formal competition

- has written structured rules and regulations
-violators will have consequences

Informal competition

- there are no written rules
-unwritten rules are set to be followed

use all means to win
