What does Autonomy mean

It means the dentist must respect the patient’s rights to self-determination and confidentiality, as this principle expresses the concept that professionals have to treat the patient according to their desires, but we can inform them of the best possible options.

what does Nonmaleficence mean

It means the dentist must do no harm and protect the patient from harm, under this principle the dentist’s primary obligation is to avoid causing injury and know one’s limitations

Beneficence

The dentist must act for the benefit of others and do good as under this principle the dentist is obligated to service the patient with competent and timely dental care within circumstances that put the patients welfare first

Justice

under this principle dentist must treat people fairly as it expresses the concept that professionals have a duty to be fair in their dealings with patients, colleagues, and society without prejudice

(Though Medlin said that you can choose not to accept patients, for example, you can choose not to take a kid as a patient, as long as you choose not to take every kid as a patient. So if you specifically pick a kid out to not take as a patient, that’s breaking this principle.)

Veracity

This means the dentist must communicate truthfully and the principle expresses the concept that professionals have a duty’s to be honest and trustworthy in their dealings with people
