Induction Program Goal 1
To coach, mentor, and provide supports to develop a teachers’ strong sense of efficacy based on high-quality teaching skills and experience.
Phase 1: Dress Rehearsal
The phase of the first ninety days involving professional development to develop essential routines and procedures and write lesson plans.
Phase 2: Days 1−30
The phase focused on feedback meetings, rolling out and monitoring routines, and independent practice.
Phase 3: Days 31−60
The phase focused on weekly data meetings, engaging every student, and responding to student learning needs.
Phase 4: Days 61−90
The phase focused on real-time feedback for rigor, setting routines for discourse, and leading student discourse.
Strong Voice
Technique 38 from Teach Like A Champion used to capture authority and confidence through five concrete rules.
Economy of Language
A component of Strong Voice where the teacher is brief and to the point when giving directions.
Do Not Talk Over
A component of Strong Voice where the teacher creates a clear cue for students to know that they demand their attention before speaking.
Do Not Engage
A component of Strong Voice where the teacher does not allow students to change the focus from a specific task or rule.
Square Up/ Stand Still
A component of Strong Voice where the teacher stands still, makes eye contact, and squares shoulders to the class when giving important directions.
Quiet Power
A component of Strong Voice where a teacher lowers their voice and slows down speech when feeling anxious instead of getting louder and faster.
Formal Pose
Indicating the importance of a message through eye contact, body position, gestures, facial expressions, and rhythm of language.
Post It
Technique 8 from Teach Like A Champion involving the display of learning targets in the same location every day for visibility to students and peers.
Learning Targets
In Bibb County, these are displayed as "I can" statements aligned to standards.
Do Now
A short activity written on the board or placed on desks for students to do as soon as they enter the classroom as part of an entry routine.
Do Now Criteria
Must be completed with no direction, take 3 to 5 minutes, require a written product, and preview or review lessons.
Exit Ticket
A short activity used to gather classwide data on whether students mastered the learning target to inform reteaching.
Management Trajectory Techniques
A group of techniques including Threshold, Entry Routine, Tight Transitions, Seat Signals, and Strong Voice.
Rigor Trajectory Techniques
A group of techniques including Post It, Do Now, and Exit Ticket.
