Trisomy
A chromosomal abnormality involving three copies of a single chromosome.
Monosomy
A chromosomal abnormality involving one copy of a single chromosome.
Triploidy
A chromosomal abnormality characterized by three complete sets of chromosomes (3N).
Tetraploidy
A chromosomal abnormality characterized by four complete sets of chromosomes (4N).
Nondisjunction
The failure of chromosomes to separate normally during cell division.
Spontaneous abortion
The natural termination of a pregnancy, often due to chromosomal abnormalities.
Down Syndrome
A condition caused by trisomy of chromosome 21, often resulting from nondisjunction.
Chromosomal abnormalities
Changes in the structure or number of chromosomes that can lead to various disorders.
Centromere-linked marker
A genetic marker associated with the centromere, used to study nondisjunction events.
XXY
A male with Klinefelter syndrome, characterized by the presence of an extra X chromosome.
