RA 9163
The National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001 which aims to enhance civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth.
Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS)
An NSTP component contributing to the general welfare and betterment of life for community members, especially in health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, and safety.
Literacy Training Service (LTS)
A program component designed to train students to teach literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out-of-school youth, and other segments of society.
Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC)
A program component designed to provide military training to tertiary level students to motivate, train, organize, and mobilize them for national defense preparedness.
Common Module Phase
A mandatory training period for first-semester freshmen consisting of 25 hours covering drug education, disaster awareness, environmental protection, and national security.
National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC)
The organization composed of graduates from the non-ROTC components (CWTS and LTS) who may be tapped by the State for literacy and civic welfare activities.
Clustering
The process of grouping students enrolled in different schools who are taking the same NSTP components into one group under a designated school.
Student Cadet
A student who is specifically enrolled in the ROTC component of the National Service Training Program.
Section 1, Article III (1987 Constitution)
States that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, nor be denied equal protection of the laws.
RA 8491
The Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, prescribing the proper use and display of the national flag, anthem, and other national symbols.
White Equilateral Triangle
The design on the Philippine National Flag that symbolizes liberty, equality, and fraternity.
Horizontal Blue Stripe
The part of the Philippine National Flag that symbolizes peace, truth, and justice.
Horizontal Red Stripe
The part of the Philippine National Flag that symbolizes patriotism and valor.
Three Stars of the Flag
The symbols on the national flag representing the three main islands of the archipelago: Luzon, Visayas (Panay), and Mindanao.
Eight rays of the sun
Symbols on the flag representing the provinces of Manila, Pampanga, Batangas, Tarlac, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Nueva Ecija which revolted against Spain.
Half-mast
Flying the flag at this position as a sign of mourning, such as for 10 days upon the death of the President or a former President.
National Flag Days
The period from May 28 to June 12 of each year where all government and private entities are enjoined to display the National Flag.

The official motto of the Philippines: MAKA-DIYOS, MAKA-TAO, MAKAKALIKASAN AT MAKABANSA.
Great Seal (Dakilang Sagisag ng Pilipinas)
A circular seal used to authenticate official documents, bearing the National Motto and kept under the custody of the President.
Philippine National Flag Color Orientation
The blue field is on top in time of peace and the red field is on top in time of war.
RA 8491 Violation Penalty
A fine of not less than P5,000.00 nor more than P20,000.00, or imprisonment for not more than 1 year.
Common Module Duration
The initial module of NSTP that students must undergo for a total of 25 hours.
National Service Training Program Duration
Taken for an academic period of 2 semesters, credited for 3 units per semester, with 54 to 90 training hours per semester.
