Gravity

A concept that causes objects with mass to experience a force, which acts between all objects.

Weight

The gravitational force acting on objects on a planet, which is measured in Newtons ($N$) and can change depending on the local gravitational field strength.

Mass

The amount of matter in an object, measured in kilograms ($kg$), which does not change depending on location.

Gravitational field strength ($g$)

The amount of gravitational force acting on each kilogram of mass, measured in Newtons of weight per kilogram of mass ($N/kg$).

Earth's gravitational field strength

The gravitational field strength of Earth, equal to $g = 9.8\text{ N/kg}$.

Moon's gravitational field strength

The gravitational field strength of the Moon, equal to $g = 1.6\text{ N/kg}$.

Weight equation

The formula $W = m \times g$, where weight ($W$) equals mass ($m$) multiplied by gravitational field strength ($g$).
