Psychology
The scientific study of behavior and mental processes in certain contexts.
Behaviour
An aspect of psychology focused on gathering data to observe, explain, and predict actions.
Mental Processes
Thoughts, feelings, and motives that each individual experiences privately and cannot be directly observed by another person.
Context
Refers to the historical, economic, social, and cultural factors that influence mental processes and behaviour.
Science
An aspect of psychology defined as using systematic methods to observe, explain, and predict behaviour.
Approach or Perspective in Psychology
A particular view as to why, and how we think, feel, and behave as we do.
Relevance of Psychology to Nursing Practice
Assists student nurses in understanding their own and others' behaviours, developing insight for personal and social problem solving, dealing with different types of patients, and evaluating psychological information.
