What is a legacy system?
An older system that has been running for a long time, sometimes installed 10, 15, 20 years ago or more
Why are legacy systems often still in use despite their age?
Because they can still be very important to the organization, which is likely why they haven't been replaced
What is an embedded system?
A purpose-built device where users typically do not have direct access to the underlying operating system

The manufacturer of the equipment
How much ongoing maintenance do embedded systems typically require?
Very little, since the manufacturer usually provides everything needed to keep the system running
