Network Diagram

A graphical representation of project activities and their dependencies.

Precedence Diagram Method (PDM)

A technique used to construct a project schedule network diagram.

Activity

On a network diagram, a task that consumes time and resources.

Dependency

A logical relationship between two project activities.

Lead

Time that allows an acceleration of a successor activity.

Lag

Time delay between the start or finish of one activity and another.

Critical Path

The longest sequence of activities that must be completed on time for the project to finish on schedule.

Float (Slack)

The amount of time an activity can be delayed without delaying the project.

Early Start (ES)

The earliest time an activity can begin without delay.

Late Finish (LF)

The latest time an activity can finish without delaying the project.
