Exposure assessment
Contact between an environmental agent (e.g., biological, chemical or physical pollutant) and a target (e.g., person, animal, biological receptor)
Dose (internal dose)
The amount actually deposited or absorbed in the body. Could be acute (you drink a cup of poison) or over time (breathing contaminated air)
Biomonitoring
Analytical measurement of biomarkers in tissues or body products (blood, urine, feces, breast milk, hair, nails, etc. Can identify whether an individual was exposed and may indicate relative exposure intensity but not the og concentration or og source.
