A random change in the DNA sequence that can create new alleles.
What happens during genetic recombination?
Parental chromosomes are mixed during meiosis, creating unique combinations of genes.

The movement of genes between populations, usually through migration.

Biological change that occurs in living things over generations.
Why is variation important for evolution?
It provides differences for natural selection to act upon.

How do antibiotics act as a selection pressure?
They kill susceptible bacteria, while naturally resistant bacteria survive and reproduce

They multiply and become more common in the population.
