How is the flute music significant
- the flute is indicatrive of Willy Loman's Father
-willy loman's father was a flute maker and flute salesman
-thorughout the play flute music is in the backround
-willy has vauge memorie of his father when they were traveling
-ben told willy his father was a good man
-willy's father felt he never had a real foundation in life
First impression of Willy Loman
- Willy is first seen when he's comes home from a trip (we learn he is troubled) willy is jumping around when he talks and is mentally not there at all
In the beginning of the play we can determine Linda's role in willy's life
- Linda is Willy's foundation, caretaker, and the only person he can truly rely on
- Linda claims willy's downs and brings him his sanity
Willys contradictory statements are significant
-Willy calls biff lazy then a few lines later he calls biff a hard worker and not lazy
-contradictory statements show willys state of mind and odd relationship with his son
-when Linda tells Willy of biffs wrong doings he immediately gets mad at him
-Willy romanticizes the past

The significance of the nickname Happy is
-happy is the nickname of Willy and Linda's son
-their sons nickname is happy because he tries to smooth over every situation, but the reality is that happy is not happy himself
What drives biff to go out west and how does this reality illustrate the contrast between Biff and Happy
-biff didn't want to be the conventional one, instead following his heart
-happy is the conventional one

-happy says these lines to try and get his father's attention because Biff is loved more
-the seeds talked about are meant as a metaphor for starting a new life in Willy's death, they are his legacy that will leave his mark
-he is especially happy when he kills himself because he is with his brother Ben.

-Arthur Miller never states what Willy sells because truthfully he sells himself, he wants to be loved.

-biff admired his father believing he could speak with Mr. Birnbaum and fix everything with his grades, until he found out he was being unfaithful to his wife, Linda

-Willy believes Bernard becomes (nerd) should be helping Biff because he is popular and can go places.
-in the future can't understand how Bernard becomes a success and Biff didn't
Willy's flashback in Act 1 began to change and why it happened
-many flashbacks end badly because the romanticism goes away and the harsh truth comes out with Willy saying that he will beat Biff foe what he had done.

It is not said exactly but Willy is selling himself
Willy cheats on Linda and how does he react to Linda's mending stockings
-biff refers to his father as a "faked when talking to Linda
-part of the play where Biff says a woman saw him purposely crash the car and Linda responds awkwardly saying "what woman"
-it might indicate that Linda knew Willy was cheating on her
-the woman he cheated with told him that she picked because his was funny, so insecure and wanting to be loved
-Willy gives the woman Linda's new stockings, and when he sees Linda mending old ones he gets angered.
