He asked her father Zeus for permission but not her mother Demeter. Zeus said yes, so he brought her to his realm. Down in the underworld, Persephone finds a pomegranate, and she eats some of the seeds. However, if you eat something from the underworld, you have to stay in the underworld. Each pomegranate seed she ate is one month she has to stay in the underworld. So if she ate six seeds, she would spend six months with Hades and six months with her mother, explaining the cycle of the seasons.

Zeus then disguises as the general and does it with Alcmene, then takes off. The next day, the real General comes home, and 9 months later Alcmene gives birth to Heracles and Iphicles. Hera is mad about the birth of Heracles and send Hades’ snakes to kill him, but fails.
