2024 Lib dem
Lib Dems won 72 seats on 12.2% of the vote because their support was geographically concentrated in the South West and Surrey — FPTP rewards concentration
2019 GE
Conservatives won 56% of seats (365) on 43.6% of votes; Brexit Party got 2% of votes and zero seats — showing how FPTP discriminates against evenly spread parties.
Safe seats crisis
At least 200 of 650 seats are considered 'safe' — meaning millions of voters effectively have no real choice. This reinforces calls for electoral reform.
