Kaalaman (Knowledge)
Factual information, data, or skills learned such as names, dates, and causes, which can be memorized or recited passively without deep understanding.
Kamalayan (Consciousness/Awareness)
A deeper, active, and reflective understanding of how history relates to oneself, society, and the present, incorporating emotional and critical dimensions.
Kamalayang Pangkasaysayan
The ability of a person to understand and interpret past events and relate them to the present and future; it is the combination of knowledge and understanding of the past's significance.
Kasaysayan
The systematic study, recording, and narration of important past events, derived from the words 'Salaysay' (narrative) and 'Saysay' (meaning/value).
Salaysay
The narrative or the presentation of vivid events within the context of history.
Saysay
The meaning, importance, or value of a narrative to a community; without this, a timeline is merely a chronicle.
Historia
The Greek origin of the word 'history,' meaning 'knowledge acquired through investigation,' which requires active analysis rather than passive memorization.
Heograpiya (Geography)
The study of the earth's physical characteristics, natural resources, inhabitants, and phenomena, as well as the relationship between humans and their environment.
Kabuhayan (Livelihood)
Activities and economic actions, such as farming or fishing, that respond to the day-to-day needs of a person or community.
Kultura (Culture)
A collection of customs, traditions, beliefs, and unique ways of life that constitute a society's outlook and identity.
Ilaya
Traditional upland or interior communities located in high lands or mountains, often near the source of a river and focused on agriculture and forest resources.
Ilawod
Traditional lowland or coastal communities located near river mouths or the sea, typically focused on fishing, trade, and maritime navigation.
Igorot
A collective term for various ethnolinguistic groups in the Cordillera, such as the Ifugao, Kankanaey, Ibaloi, Bontoc, Kalanguya, and Isneg.
Hagdang-hagdang Palayan (Rice Terraces)
A physical artifact and engineering feat that integrates geography (water flow), livelihood (stone walls to prevent erosion), and culture (sacred planting rituals).
Pantayong Pananaw
A framework by Dr. Zeus A. Salazar advocating for history and culture centered on the perspective, language, and experiences of Filipinos talking to each other.

A concept by Reynaldo C. Ileto that emphasizes understanding history through the experiences of the common masses and farmers rather than elite perspectives.
Binukot
Secluded or cloistered women in Panay Bukidnon (Sulodnon) who are kept away from the community as a mark of prestige and serve as keepers of oral traditions and epics like the Hinilawod.
