Anthropology 2210

Biological Anthropology

A subdiscipline of anthropology focusing on understanding human origins, evolution, and modern biological diversity.

Sara Baartman

Embodied Biology

The biological manifestation of health and well-being as impacted by social constructs such as race and gender.

Independent Work

Strictly non-collaborative, original-individual work that a student may discuss only with the instructor.

Collaboration Required

Assignments with an explicit expectation for collaboration among students either in-class or outside.

Optional-Collaboration

Assignments where students are permitted to discuss ideas with each other, provided all submitted work is one's original and individual creation.

Academic Misconduct

Defined under Section 3335-23-04 of the Code of Student Conduct as any activity that tends to compromise the academic integrity of the University or subvert the educational process.

COAM

The Committee on Academic Misconduct, the university body to which instructors are obligated to report suspected academic misconduct.

Late Work Policy

A course policy where an assignment submitted past the due date and time receives a reduction down to 75% before grading begins.

Assignment Formatting Protocol

The requirement that assignments be typed and double-spaced using Times New Roman, 12-point font with 1-inch margins and a cover page or header; failure to follow this protocol results in a 10 percent grade reduction.

Unexcused Absence Policy

A policy granting students 4 excused absences, after which any student with 5 or more unexcused absences has their final grade reduced by 5% for each absence above 4.

Generative AI Policy

A course rule prohibiting the use of generative artificial intelligence tools (such as Copilot or ChatGPT), writer aids (Grammarly), or translation platforms (Google Translate), with violations referred to COAM.

Religious Accommodations Notice

The requirement for students to provide written notice to their instructor regarding known accommodation requests for religious beliefs and practices within 14 days after the first instructional day of the course.

The rules of etiquette on the Internet designed to improve message readability, keep conversations focused, increase trust, and maintain professional behavior.
