Animal cell
Animal cells are the fundamental building blocks of all multicellular animals, including humans. Eukaryotic cells.

nucleus
. Contains genetic material, including DNA, which controls the cell’s activities. looks like a lump in middle of cell.
ribosomes
Tiny structures where protein synthesis occurs.
cytoplasm
A jelly-like material that contains dissolved nutrients and salts and structures called organelles. It is where many of the chemical reactions happen. |
cell membrane
Its structure is permeable to some substances but not to others. It therefore controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell.
vacuole
only in plant cells. Filled with cell sap to help keep the cell turgid.
chloroplast
Organelles that contains the green pigment, chlorophyll, which absorbs light energy for photosynthesis. Contains the enzymes needed for photosynthesis. only in plant cells
mitochondria
Organelles that contain the enzymes for respiration, and where most energy is released in respiration. |
Eukaryotic cells
Cells of animals, plants and fungi are called eukaryotic cells.-A type of cell that has a nucleus.
prokaryotic cells
Cells of bacteria are called prokaryotic cells-A simple cell that does not have a nucleus – the DNA is free in the cytoplasm.
