Sample
A subset of the population of interest that researchers study.
Construct
An intangible conceptual variable (such as self-esteem, attachment style, or motivation) that represents real concepts but has no physical manifestation.
Operationalization
The process of taking an intangible construct and figuring out how to define and quantify how much of it an individual has.
Operational Definition
The definition used in science to quantify and measure a conceptual construct.
