14th amendment MEMORIZATION

Section 1

• Born/naturalized in U.S. = citizens 100%

• No law can hold back the rights of citizens/deprive them of life, liberty, or property without due process

Section 2

• House = # of people in states

• State rep is reduced if any male citizen of 21 years is kept from voting

• Repeal of 3/5 clause

Section 3

• Disqualification clause

• If you participate in insurrection or rebellion against a State/the Federal govt. (or sympathize with one), you can’t hold literally any office

• So you can be removed by Congress or be banned from holding office

Section 4

• Public debt can’t be questioned

• U.S. can’t take or pay debts that support insurrection or rebellion

• Has been discussed with the increasing debt ceiling

Section 5

• Congress can enforce this article through legislation.
