NSTP
National Service Training Program; a government program established by RA 9163 requiring tertiary students to complete one of three components (ROTC, LTS, CWTS) to develop civic consciousness and defense preparedness.

Communicable Diseases

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
Group of chronic conditions not primarily caused by infection (e.g., hypertension, cancers, diabetes, cardiovascular and chronic lung diseases).
Hypertension
Chronic high blood pressure; risk for heart disease and stroke; prevent with healthy lifestyle choices.
Heart Attack
Myocardial infarction; reduced blood flow causing heart muscle damage; common symptom is chest pain.
Stroke
Brain event; ischemic or hemorrhagic; signs include weakness, speech problems, and vision changes; TIA = mini-stroke.

NSTP Coverage for Students
All incoming freshmen in baccalaureate or two-year tech-voc/associate programs must complete one NSTP component as graduation requirement.
NSTP Exemptions
Some military academies (PMA, PMMA, PNPA) and similar SUCs may have NSTP exemptions due to their special character.
NSTP in Higher Education
SUCs must offer ROTC and at least one other NSTP component; freshmen enrollment policy requires NSTP completion.
