DNA helicase
-unwinds the DNA helix/strantends the twist
-separates the DNA bases during DNA replication
Single strand binding proteins
-Binds to DNA and keeps the base pairs from rejoining/keeps DNA single strands for a short period of time
DNA Primase
-Adds a primer of RNA to begin DNA replication
DNA polymerase
-Adds new DNA nucleotides to the 3’ end of DNA or RNA during replication
-removes RNA primer
-proof reads the base pairing mistakes during replication
DNA Ligase
-Attaches Okazaki fragments (ligments of DNA) once the RNA primers have been replaced by DNA/ →→→ glues the → frangments together
Topoisomerase
-prevents over winding of DNA so that replication or transcription can countiue/ shoe example
Telomerase
-Adds telomeres to the ends of DNA to prevent the loss of genes during replication
RNA polymerase
-Adds new RNA nucleotides to the 3’ end of RNA during transcription/ mRNA
